Occasions was recently featured in Portland Picks September 7th Issue. “Rise to the Occasions!” To some, it’s gratifying to hang out at that bar where everyone knows your name, but to others (you know who you are), it’s that special shop that you always tuck into.
The shop—a neighborhood spot if you’re lucky—is where you can browse and hang out and relax after a hard day, and inhale all the fabulosity in the store. And one of those spots is Occasions. Occasions is owned by a darling mother/daughter team (and shop dog “Jack”) and we bask in their loveliness regularly, relaxing among the jewelry created by local artists, the stationery, the hostess gifts, baby gifts, table tops, wedding gifts, and deserving gifts for ourselves to brighten our day. Occasions, appropriately named, carries gifts for every occasion, even if that special occasion is your “me time,” which, let’s face it, is an incredibly important occasion unto itself and calls for a big round of shopping.
Occasions carries fine lines such as Arthur Court, Arte Italica, Fitz & Floyd, Alan Lee, Vera Wang, Vietri, Uttermost and Global Views, sigh...to name a few. We love to loiter here because they are so kind, provide such great customer service, and it just feels like home. And after three joyous years they are having a sale. This would be a great opportunity to pay them a visit, treat yourself to fine chocolates, bubbling bubbly, and daily (elegant) prizes. We’ll see you there...lounging courtside, of course.
Occasions has been featured on KATU-TV’s AM Northwest program several times. Additionally, Oregon’s own Gerry Frank designated Occasions Fine Gifts as the Best New Gift Store in Portland in The Oregonian (12/03) shortly after the store’s grand opening in September, 2003. We have been featured on KATU-TV’s AM Northwest program several times. This past summer the store was formally introduced on the program and in September the segment focused on “Girlfriend Gifts”. Items featured included: Feather pens; decision dice; feather purses and pins; wooden signs with sayings such as “Hormonally Challenged” and “It’s Good To Be Queen”; Bloomin Bags with a Spa Theme; and, pillows with sayings such as “I cleaned my house last week, sorry you missed it" and “You are my best friend, you know to much!”.

Tis the Occasion for Fine Gifts!
